William Simonyan

William Simonyan was born and raised in a family of doctors in the capital of Armenia, Yerevan. Since August 2017, William has been living in the Netherlands, which has already become his second homeland. Answering the question why he chose the path of an artist, William answers։

“If only I knew the answer. When I was a child, I loved to imitate everyone, from the headmaster of the kindergarten to my own grandparents, from the school principal to the university rector, and later from the prominent politicians to the country presidents. Unfortunately, at a young age, family and social pressures were high, and I had to choose a rather difficult but for sure an interesting life journey. Throughout all my life I have followed scientific paths, first a bachelor’s degree in Management, then a master’s degree in Marketing, then a second master’s in Environmental Sciences, and even a four-year Undergraduate Research in the field of Country Branding. I have worked from the Head of Scientific affairs committee in Armenian National Students Association to a lecturer at the Armenian State University of Economics. However, my inseparable and loyal companion, Her Excellency the Stage, has led me through all these journeys hand by hand from the very beginning.

Imitating different people taught me to see the qualities that make a person an individual, which is the secret of creating a character. And all the roles I play are real people who I have met at different stages of my life, and who have come to life again in a new and unique way through the character.
